The ambassador called the words of the United States about “Russian aggression” part of the information war

Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov called the US attempts to accuse Russia of intending to conduct so-called “false flag operations” as part of the information war. The diplomat’s comment was published on February 5 on the diplomatic mission’s Facebook page.

“This lie is part of the information war against Russia. For several months now, Washington has been disturbing the whole world with statements that Ukraine is about to become a victim of “Russian aggression”. However, bad luck came out, since there is no attack, ”Antonov emphasized.

According to him, the alleged “leaks” of intelligence data are used by the States to convince the position on the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border.

“There is a feeling that American PR people, in an effort to compromise Russia, are acting on the principle of “throw as much dirt as possible, maybe something will stick,” the ambassador said.

Antonov assured that Russia was not going to attack anyone. At the same time, the ambassador stressed that the Kremlin is concerned about the position of the United States on the situation around Ukraine.

“We consider the current American actions to pump weapons to Ukraine wrong and extremely dangerous. Thus, the United States is pandering to the nationalist group in Kiev, which is doing everything to turn the Russian-speaking population into a persecuted minority in an ethnocratic state,” the diplomat said.

He urged the United States “not to play scenes for the gullible.”

The US authorities said that the Russian special services are allegedly developing a video recording of a staged attack on the Russian Federation by the Ukrainian military. According to Washington, this video is planned to be used as a pretext for military action against Ukraine.

At the same time, the United States did not provide concrete evidence for these accusations. So, the day before, State Department spokesman Ned Price urged journalists who asked to provide evidence of the impending provocation to take the authorities at their word.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, recommended not to trust anyone, “especially the State Department regarding these issues.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the allegation that Russia is preparing such a video nonsense.

Statements about the alleged preparation of a fake video by Russia were also denied by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Vladimir Chizhov. He stressed that Russia “never does such things.”

In the United States and EU countries, they have recently expressed concern about the alleged increase in Russia’s “aggressive actions” against Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly denied such accusations, saying that it does not threaten anyone. According to the Russian side, the statements are being used as a pretext to place as much NATO military equipment as possible near the borders of the Russian Federation.
