BYMA presented the fourth rebalancing of its Sustainability Index

The market presented the list of 20 companies that make up the Sustainability index. The objective is to promote awareness among companies of the importance of contributing to sustainable development.

In order to raise awareness and raise awareness in the capital market regarding the benefits of reporting and being a sustainable company, Stock Exchanges and Markets of Argentina (BYMA) presented the fourth rebalancing of its Sustainability Index, which highlights the leading broadcasters in Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance mattersas well as the contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (ESG-D).

The President of BYMAErnesto Allaria, expressed: “Each rebalancing of the Sustainability Index is good news, both for the broadcasters that are part of it and for the ecosystem and for the generation of positive impact in Argentina.”

And he stressed, in this sense, that the visibility of good practices seeks to inspire and encourage more and more broadcasters to think about their actions based on their contribution to sustainability. “We are proud that the index can play a multiplier role in this regard,” said Allaria.

Which companies make up the index

This index is made up of 20 companieswhich are the following (in alphabetical order): Banco Hipotecario, Banco Macro, Banco BBVA Argentina, Bolsas y Mercados de Argentina, Central Puerto, ENEL Generación Costanera, Grupo Clarín, Grupo Financiero Galicia, Grupo Supervielle, Holcim Argentina, IRSA Inversiones and Representations, Richmond Laboratories, Loma Negra Industrial Company, Molinos Agro, Molinos Río de la Plata, Pampa Energía, SA San Miguel, Telecom Argentina, Transportadora de Gas del Sur and YPF.

This is the first index of this type in Argentina, tending to promote the visibility of the stations that present the best performance in matters ESG-D and BYMA reported that “the development was created in 2018 with the technical support and know-how of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the academic endorsement of the Earth Institute of Columbia University and with Refinitiv technology, which analyzes the performance of the issuers through its ESG indicators and provides objective ratings based on publicly accessible sources”.

The idea of ​​this initiative is to help companies to identify new business opportunitiesimprovement of the capacity to attract capital, reputation and positioning of the brand and loyalty of human capital, among other purposes.

To develop this index, we analyze Issuers that make up the S&P BYMA GENERAL INDEX, from which the 20 companies mentioned were selected based on the information reported and available to the general public. Refinitiv has a tool called the “Contribution Tool”, through which it gives each broadcaster the ability to view and contribute their ESG content.
