The number of people injured as a result of the accident at the Listvyazhnaya mine in Kuzbass has increased to 106 people, on Sunday, December 5, RIA Novosti reports, citing the emergency services of the region.
“Seven mine rescuers were hospitalized, who were lifting bodies from the mine. Diagnosis – “toxic effects of carbon monoxide mild,” – said the source.
The day before, the bodies of two more dead miners were raised from the mine. To date, 14 bodies have been removed to the surface and the location of 12 has been established. The search for the remaining miners under the rubble continues.
On December 2, the acting head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Alexander Chupriyan, announced that the rescuers would work around the clock to search for and retrieve the bodies of those killed in the Listvyazhnaya accident.
The incident at the mine happened on the morning of November 25. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there was an explosion. The accident killed 51 people, including five rescuers. After what happened in the region, an emergency regime was introduced.
On the fact of the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of a person by negligence”), as well as a criminal case on the fact of negligence of employees of the Rostekhnadzor department.
