In the Kemerovo Region, a fire broke out in the spray booth of the paint and varnish shop of the Khimmash plant, which is part of the holding of the owner of the Listvyazhnaya mine, Maxim Fedyaev. This was announced on Wednesday, December 15, at the Kuzbass Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The fire took place at 08:30. The fire started in the painting room of the wagon-assembly shop No. 3. All workers of the shop were promptly evacuated.
Firefighters arrived on time, at 10:00 the fire was completely extinguished, the department noted.
At the moment, an internal plant commission is working to investigate the incident.
Earlier on Wednesday, the president of the SDS Ugol holding – the company that owns the Listvyazhnaya mine in Kemerovo – Mikhail Fedyaev was charged under two counts. He is accused of committing crimes under Part 3 of Art. 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of the industrial safety requirements of hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence”) and Part 2 of Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Abuse of powers in a commercial organization, resulting in grave consequences”).
The accident at the Listvyazhnaya mine occurred on the morning of November 25. As a result of the incident, 51 people died, 58 were hospitalized. In total, there were 285 people in the mine.
On the fact of the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of a person by negligence”), as well as a criminal case on the fact of negligence of employees of the Rostekhnadzor department.
