Replacing butter and mayonnaise with olive oil in the diet will increase life expectancy. This opinion was reached by scientists from the Harvard Medical School in their article from Saturday, January 15th.
In the study, more than 90,000 volunteers filled out questionnaires about their diet every four years for 28 years. As a result of the data obtained, the experts came to the conclusion that if you replace 10 g of mayonnaise, butter or margarine with the same amount of olive oil, this will reduce the risk of death from many diseases.
“Increased olive oil consumption led to a 19% reduction in the risk of death from cardiovascular disease, 17% from cancer, 29% from neurodegenerative diseases, and 18% from respiratory diseases,” the text of a study from the Journal of the American College of Cardiology cited in ApXap.
On January 2, nutritionist Alena Stepanova said that people suffering from inflammatory processes should not consume butter, as it can adversely affect the state of the body. The recommendation to avoid butter also applies to those with allergies, lactose intolerance, and autoimmune diseases.
On December 21, nutritionist Anna Melekhina said that mayonnaise will not harm the body if used in small quantities. You can also reduce its calorie content by mixing it in a 50:50 ratio with Greek yogurt or low-fat sour cream.
