Illegal street sales in CABA collapsed almost 60% in October

This was reported by the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC)according to the latest report prepared by the Entity’s Trade and Services Observatory. Six of the ten most affected blocks were located on Avenida Avellaneda, which concentrated 88.3% of the total detected on avenues and streets. Specifically, it was highlighted that the most affected block in the entire city was Av. Avellaneda at 2900, where 106 positions were surveyed. Second place went to Av. Avellaneda at 3000, with 77 stands.

The most traded item in these positions was Clothing and footwearwhich covered 74.5%, followed by food and beverages with 14.9% of the total.

In the CAC report, the avenues Avellaneda, Rivadavia, Pueyrredón, Corrientes, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Cabildo, Juramento, 9 de Julio, de Mayo and Callaoin addition to Perú and Lavalle streets, and the Liniers, Once and Microcentro areas. Likewise, the exhibition also includes the Once de Septiembre Station, Rivadavia Park, Retiro Station, Constitución Station, Plaza de Mayo, Lacroze Station and Belgrano C Station.

The survey was carried out between October 1 and 31, 2024 through an observation tour of the illegal trading posts installed on both sidewalks of the aforementioned avenues, streets, stations, terminals and squares.

According to the CAC, the period surveyed coincided with the strict surveys that the Government of the City of Buenos Aires carried out in the Once commercial circuit to dismantle undocumented street sales. The other side of the slightest illegal sale can be a negative impact on informal workwith a lot of weight today in the country and with deeply deteriorated real incomes.

On the other hand, in The Silver 102 illegal street vendors were detected on avenues, streets and pedestrians. This value represented an increase of 13.3% compared to September 2024 and a decrease of 72.6% compared to October 2023.
