Two Tu-95 missile carriers flew over the northern seas as planned

Two Tu-95 strategic missile carriers of long-range aviation flew over the neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas, as well as the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean. This was announced on February 3 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

According to the press service of the Defense Ministry, the missile carriers were accompanied by MiG-31 fighters of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Northern Fleet.

The flight duration was about 15 hours, the aircraft performed aerial refueling.

Air Force of England, ”the Defense Ministry reported.

All flights of aircraft of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) of Russia are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace, the ministry stressed.

On February 2, it was reported that Russian military aircraft flew over the Atlantic as part of an exercise to search for and detect submarines. The fleet added that the planes took off from the Kipelovo airfield near Vologda and headed for the Barents Sea. Then the pilots flew over the waters of the Norwegian Sea to the area where the assigned tasks were to be carried out. There they were escorted by Norwegian and British Air Force fighters.
