Esken: “I’m not going with melancholy”
Saskia Esken went empty -handed in the Personal carousel of the SPD. To say goodbye to the party congress, she mainly has for a warm words that she was not so close in the past.
Saskia Esken called up the SPD for more cohesion when it said goodbye from the party leadership. The party has helped the party to success in the past – “and the same way we have to do it again today,” she said at a party congress in Berlin. After the disaster, the SPD had to change in the Bundestag election “so that it gets better,” said Esken.
In the SPD personnel carousel after the election, Esken had left empty: she did not get a post in the cabinet. The 63-year-old emphasized that she does not say goodbye to the party chairmanship. She thanked Oiaf Scholz particularly warmly. “You were my chancellor and we reached a lot together,” she said. Scholz has a warm heart, a cool head, especially in stormy times, attitude and loyalty to social democracy.
Esken did not always talk about Scholz so positively: When she prevailed against Scholz, among other things, when she prevailed against Scholz with Norbert Walter-Borjans, she had also clearly criticized him.
