On May 18, after more than twelve hours of negotiations with municipal employers, the trade unions agreed on additional days off and monthly allowances for employees in social and educational professions. Two previous bargaining rounds had been adjourned without a result.
According to VKA Managing Director Wolfgang Spree, the additional days off were particularly controversial in the employer bodies. ‘You become one
reduced presence in the facilities and in the
worst case additional closing days in the
Draw day-care centers,” warned Spree.
In the next step, the contracting parties become the
so-called editorial negotiations, in order to clarify the detailed questions and to include the new wage agreement in the contracts.
