Ukraine: Pensioner tells of rocket fire on her house in Kharkiv (video)

At least one person was killed in a rocket fire on a residential building in Kharkiv, according to the region’s governor. An elderly resident reports on the horror at night.

At least four people have been killed in Russian airstrikes on cities in eastern and southern Ukraine, according to Kiev. In the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, three people were killed and six others injured, local authorities said on Sunday. According to the authorities, a woman was killed in a Russian attack on a residential building in Kharkiv. Four people were also killed in an attack on a railway bridge in southern Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region, a Russian official said. He blamed Ukraine for the attack. Things have recently been much quieter on the front in southern Ukraine than in the east after Moscow withdrew its troops from the city of Cherson in November.

Rocket attacks on cities in the east and south

“Enemy artillery shelled the residential areas of the city,” the Kherson regional administration said. Civilian facilities were damaged, including the regional hospital, a school, a post office, a bank and residential buildings. The Russian army “brutally bombed Kherson all day long,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a video message on Sunday evening. According to Governor Oleg Synegubov, the Russian army bombed a four-story residential building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv in the east of the country. An elderly woman was killed in the attack.

Ukraine is said to have fired on a railway bridge

In the Zaporizhia region, where there had been little change at the front for several months, Ukraine used a Himars multiple rocket launcher to attack a railway bridge over the Molochnaya River, Moscow-appointed regional chief Yevgeny Balitsky said in online networks. Four railway employees were killed and five others injured. Located in a village north of the Russian-controlled city of Melitopol, the bridge is under repair, according to Balitsky. Russia claims to have annexed the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions and two other regions in eastern Ukraine without fully controlling these areas.
