Traffic light parties want to conclude the probing on Friday

According to the FDP general secretary Volker Wissing, one wants to conclude on Friday if possible. Green manager Michael Kellner also spoke of a good atmosphere during the talks. “The amount of similarities has grown,” he said after the two-day exploratory round.

The number of differences has decreased. At the same time, like his two colleagues, Kellner said that the three parties no longer wanted to talk about the content, but wanted to maintain confidentiality.

Before that, the heads of the three parties had discussed all issues once for two days. Baden-Wrttemberg’s Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann said after the deliberations that there had been discussions on Tuesday about Europe as well as flight and migration. When asked about the differences in tax and financial policy, Wissing said that they wanted to proceed “step by step”. All three emphasized that the explorations are not yet about coalition talks in which one goes into the details.

The general secretaries and federal managing directors Kellner now want to try on Wednesday and Thursday to put the results of the 14-hour talks on paper. “We will evaluate the advice of the last few days and put on paper what we can carry together,” said Wissing. Should the recommendation of coalition negotiations then follow in the exploratory round on Friday, the state council of the Greens and the committees of the FDP would have to give their consent to such talks.
