Strache has been investigated since the Ibiza video was published. At the end of August, he had not been sentenced to 15 months’ conditional imprisonment in the first instance for bribery. On the other hand, he registered a “full appeal”.
The investigation, which lasted over two and a half years, drove him “financially to the brink of economic and existential ruin,” writes Strache. He wanted to “continue to use all legal and democratic means” to prove his innocence and refute the “false and defamatory accusations”. For this he asks his “friends and supporters” for “personal support, help and donations”.
The “Team HC Strache” told the APA that it was “deeply human” when Strache “now asks for help, because he was always there for others”. The investigation against Strache concerns the “willful destruction of his entire existence”. Every month “thousands of euros” were incurred in legal fees.
At the end of August, Strache was sentenced to 15 months’ conditional imprisonment in the process for the private hospital financing fund (Prikraf) at the Vienna Regional Court – not legally binding – for bribery. The co-accused owner of the private clinic in Währing, Walter Grubmüller, spent twelve months for bribery, also on probation. The proceedings concerned a suspected purchase of the law in connection with the Währing private clinic. The judgments are not final. Strache’s defense attorney, Johann Pauer, filed a “full appeal” after consulting his client.
