The State Duma adopted in the second reading a bill on the abolition of mandatory maintenance

The State Duma on Tuesday, December 21, adopted in the second reading amendments to the legislation on the abolition of compulsory technical inspection.

Thus, it was proposed to abolish the mandatory technical inspection for cars and motor vehicles owned by individuals and used by them for personal purposes.

However, vehicle inspection remains mandatory for taxis, buses and trucks. MOT will also need to go through when registering, changing the owner, changing the design or replacing the main units.

In the first reading, it was assumed that technical inspection will be mandatory if the vehicle is registered for the first time or due to a change of ownership.

In accordance with the amendments to the second reading, it was proposed not to require the diagnostic card for cars and motorcycles that are less than four years old.

According to the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, this decision is intended to make life easier for car owners. We are talking about about 50 million vehicles, the press service of the State Duma quotes him.

In November, the Russian government supported the draft law of the United Russia party on the abolition of mandatory technical inspection. Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that motorists themselves monitor their own safety. In this regard, he noted, it would be right to give them the opportunity to personally monitor the condition of their car.

As Pavel Sigal, First Vice-President of Opora Rossii, noted in an interview with Izvestia, the adoption by the State Duma in the first reading of this bill is an expected decision that can help millions of drivers of light vehicles. According to the expert, the initiative will save the family budget and time.
