The State Duma called the average pension after indexation by 8.6%

The Government Commission on Legislative Activities approved a package of amendments on the indexation of pensions in 2022 by 8.6%. After indexation, the average pension will be 18,984 rubles. This was announced on Friday, January 14, by First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Alexander Zhukov.

“After indexation, the average old-age insurance pension in 2022 will be 18,984 rubles, now it is indexed by 5.9% and amounts to 18,512 [рублей], for comparison, in 2021 there were 17,481 [рубль]”, Zhukov told reporters.

The day before, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said that the indexation of pensions by 8.6% for non-working pensioners will be issued from January 1, 2022, regardless of when the relevant law is adopted.

According to Elena Bibikova, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, if the bill is adopted in January, then in February, Russian pensioners who received pensions indexed by 5.9% will be paid not only payments indexed by 8.6%, but also the resulting difference .

On January 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed indexing pensions above the inflation rate by 8.6%. At a meeting with members of the government, the head of state noted that the decisions taken earlier would not be able to cover the expenses of pensioners due to inflation.
