Does the Sahra Wagenknecht alliance govern Thuringia with the CDU and SPD? The crucial state party conference is delayed. In addition, it is still unclear who will be invited.
In the internal BSW power struggle between the Thuringian regional association and the federal leadership around Sahra Wagenknecht, which has been going on for weeks, the decision is made later than planned. The state party conference at which the coalition agreement is to be decided will not take place on November 23rd as previously planned, but rather on December 7th. According to information from the star the state board of the BSW.
One reason for this is that coalition talks with the CDU and SPD are still ongoing. It was said that the contract would probably not be presented until the middle of next week at the earliest and therefore shortly before the party conference. In addition, there is no rush because the SPD wants to survey its base about the paper.
The Social Democrats are actually planning an online survey of around 3,500 members in Thuringia. The state party said it would take around ten days because many members would have to be informed by letter.
The Thuringian BSW state manager Tilo Kummer confirmed the postponement of the state party conference by two weeks. However, he said the main reason was that the list for the new Bundestag elections should also be chosen at the meeting. “We still need some time for this,” he said star.
It is still unclear who should be invited to the party conference. In the summer, the Thuringian state party had around 65 members. The federal executive board recently accepted up to 30 new members without the knowledge of the regional association, but at the same time did not process applications from the regional association for the admission of 15 members. Inquiries of the star have not yet been specifically answered.
When asked, state manager Kummer explained that the state association still does not have a complete list of members. “We are still in discussions with the federal party about the member file,” he said. According to information from star A deadline regulation is being discussed in Thuringia: Then only those members who were admitted on a specific date would be entitled to vote.
Sahra Wagenknecht spoke of a mistake
Regardless of the failure of the Saxon talks for a blackberry coalition, the BSW in Thuringia is still planning to join a CDU-led state government, which, together with the SPD in the state parliament, could rely on 44 of the 88 mandates. For a majority in the state parliament, the future coalition would at least have to rely on abstentions from the Left Party. The discussions indicated that there was good progress; Most of the seven working groups have already presented results.
Wagenknecht had described the results of the Thuringian exploratory talks as insufficient and the start of coalition negotiations as a “mistake”. The Federal Executive Board declared in a resolution that significant improvements had to be made in order to participate in a government. This is particularly about the party’s core foreign policy demands, but also about national policy concerns.
