After the attack, the Muslim Central Council warns of a tourist at the Holocaust memorial in Berlin of a split. Jews and Muslims should not be played against each other.
With dismay, the Central Council of Muslims reacted to the knife attack at the Holocaust memorial in Berlin. “Such an attack has nothing to do with solidarity with the Palestinians,” emphasized the association. Violence against innocent people should not be justified by anything and contradicts the values of the religious community of Muslims. “Anyone who mixes the legitimate rights of the Palestinians with anti -Semitism harms the matter and contributes to split.”
With the alleged goal of killing Jews, a 19-year-old Syrian refugee is said to have attacked a Spanish tourist with a knife in the Stelenfeld of the Holocaust memorial in Berlin and seriously injured it. The suspect is now in custody. He was arrested on Friday, a few hours after the crime, with blood -smeared hands in the vicinity of the memorial.
“According to previous investigations and the current state of knowledge, there should be relationships with the Middle East conflict,” said the Berlin public prosecutor’s office later. The memorial for the murdered Jews in Europe is reminiscent of the six million Jews in the historic center of Berlin, who were murdered under the rule of the National Socialists.
The Central Council of Muslims called the Muslims in Germany and the Jewish communities to stand up together against anti -Semitism and anti -Muslim racism. He emphasized: “Jews and Muslims must not be played against each other – our common goal is a society in which everyone can live freely and without fear.”
