On Easter Sunday, Pope Francis received the Catholic US Vice President JD Vance for a few minutes. Now Vance is reacting to the Pope’s death on platform X.
After the death of Pope Francis, US Vice President JD Vance spoke his sympathy worldwide. “I just experienced from the death of Pope Francis. My deep sympathy applies to the millions of Christians worldwide who loved him. I was happy to see him again yesterday, even though he was obviously very sick,” Vance wrote to X. “May God give him peace.”
The late Pope had received the US Vice President in the Vatican for a short conversation on Easter Sunday. According to the Vatican, it was also about topics such as migrants, refugees and people who are in prison.
JD Vance was converted into a Catholic faith as an adult and was baptized in 2019. The encounter took place in the Santa Marta guest house, where the head of the Roman Catholic Church lived from the hospital after being released.
According to the Vatican, the Pope died on Easter Monday at the age of 88. US Vice President Vance has been in India on a multi-day trip since Monday.
