Trump’s Ukraine plan: “This is all about power and blackmail”
According to political scientist Christian Mölling, Donald Trump’s most recent advance shows that the US President no longer wants to convey between both sides. There are two reasons for this.

There are only vague promises for Ukraine
Trump announced in the White House on Wednesday evening that he had made a peace plan for both Russia and Ukraine. According to media reports, this provides, among other things, that Russia retains the Crimean Peninsula, which is annexed in 2014, as well as control over the areas in Ukraine that have been occupied since the beginning of the war. It also includes the guarantee that Ukraine will not become a NATO member. All sanctions against Russia are to be canceled.
In return, “robust security guarantees” are promised for Ukraine, of which it is completely unclear how they should be implemented. However, it is clear that Trump wants to leave this task to Europeans and other partners, although they were not involved in the pre -negotiations for the peace plan.
Ukraine is also to recover a very small area in the Charkiw region in the northeast, which is currently being occupied by Russia. For this purpose, she would actually cede 20 percent of her area to Russia.
“The whole thing is a huge show”
“The whole thing is a giant show that arises because Trump obviously has two things in his head,” said Mölling, who works as a senior advisor for the Brussels Think Tank European Policy Center. On the one hand, the US President is concerned with his reputation, after all, he had “legally legged” before the start of his term of office and said: “I bring peace.” Now he is increasingly under pressure because he cannot redeem this promise. On the other hand, the United States planned to reduce raw materials in Ukraine.
The deal is not acceptable for Ukraine. “Where there is peace on it, there is no peace in it,” said Mölling.
