Russia: another 307 prisoners with Ukraine exchanged
Russia and Ukraine have carried out the second part of their greatest prisoner exchange so far. The campaign should take further steps.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russia and Ukraine have continued their greatest prisoner exchange so far and released another 307 people. In total, an exchange of a total of 1,000 prisoners between Moscow and Kyiv had been agreed. “The large -scale exchange initiated by the Russian side continues,” said the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj confirmed that Russia also released 307 prisoners.
The day before, 390 prisoners came in freedom. Selenskyj said that further release would be expected this Sunday.
The Russian soldiers are currently on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, where they received the necessary psychological and medical help, the Ministry in Moscow said. “All Russian military members are brought to the Russian Federation to treat and rehabilitation,” it said.
Exchange in several stages
Russia and Ukraine had announced several stages of this greatest prisoner exchange so far. “There is no greater pleasure,” wrote Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha on the Platform X after the first round on Friday. “Such humanitarian confidence -building measures are crucial for our continuous work to restore peace.”
According to the responsible Kiewer coordination staff, 3 women and 387 men from Russian captivity were released on Friday. The released soldiers had therefore defended the Ukraine in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Saporischschja, Kharkiw and Cherson regions. Everyone would be medically examined and received physical and psychological help.
According to the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, 270 prisoners of war and 120 civilians from Ukrainian captivity were released on Friday. Among the civilians are also citizens from the temporarily controlled places in the Russian area of Kursk.
The exchange was agreed last week during talks in Istanbul. He remained the only concrete result of the first direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations since 2022, to which US President Donald Trump had been urged.
