Karen Bass defends himself against the interference from the White House with hard words. Trump’s posting of national guards because of the protests in Los Angeles is an attempt to create chaos.
The Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, accuses the government of US President Donald Trump to abuse her city as a “test case”. Washington wants to see “what happens when the federal government intervenes and takes away the decision -making power to the state or the city,” she said at a press conference on Monday (local time).
Bass added: “I don’t think our city should serve as an experiment.” In response to protests against US migration policy in Los Angeles, Trump had sent national guards and marine fans in the western coast metropolis in the past few days – but against the will of the state of California.
Bass sees this a “provocative measure”. In advance, she tried to make it clear to the White House that the mobilization of the National Guard “would be a deliberate attempt to create restlessness and chaos in our city,” she continued.
“We are a city of immigrants”
Los Angeles was a peaceful city in front of the raids of the immigration authority ICE. “Of course there was violence and violence is unacceptable.” Allegations that Los Angeles is occupied by migrants and criminals, but clearly rejected it. “This is a despised representation of our city.” Bass added: “We are a city of immigrants and always greeted this.”
Bass called for an end to the hard immigration policy with raids on the ICE units on the platform X on the night of Tuesday (local time). “Washington attacks our people, our neighborhoods, our economy,” wrote Bass. “In Los Angeles there is a real fear at the moment. Parents, workers, grandparents, young people are afraid to cope with their everyday life.”
