Banfield embittered Platense and now commands alone

The only goal for “Drill”, which was the only leader in the area with 8 points (two wins and two draws), was scored by Giuliano Galoppo, from a free kick, at 43 minutes of the initial stage.

The “Squid” lost the undefeated in the contest and, with 7 units, is now one of the escorts (with Union and Defense and Justice).

Hours before the start of the match, a change of referee was announced: Ariel Penel for Fernando Rapallini, injured. It was, judging by what happened afterwards, quite an announcement.

First Luciano Abecasis had a muscular discomfort in the previous warm-up and Emanuel Coronel had to enter Banfield; at 12m Claudio Spontón also had to modify his formation with the entry of Kevin Andrade for Gastón Suso (injured); and Platense suffered another loss in the initial period, that of Horacio Tijanovich, replaced by Facundo Russo at 31m.

The two modifications conditioned the performance of the premises, which had started better with rapid movement along the sides and constant search for the rival goal, which forced Banfield to join their lines near their area and try to get out against.

There was finally no clear dominator or arrivals of risk. The first half was heading for a fair equality when, at 43m, Galoppo executed a great free kick (to the left of the goalkeeper and below, there were no local players who made the “crocodile” behind the barrier) and put the 1-0 visitor.

The second half fell in intensity, with actions more of a fight than a game, which became imprecise.

In this new scenario, the visitors, already ahead, were more assertive and incisive than the host, whose tools to find a tie were push and self-esteem, but he had no ideas or conceptual clarity to generate situations.

But the changes worked for Spontón and Platense pressed to such an extent that he turned Enrique Bologna into a figure: first he took a violent shot from Gonzalo Bergessio and later contained a header from Augusto Schott.

Before the end, and to be in tune, debutant Eric López (arriving from Atlanta United of the United States MLS) was injured in Banfield. He had entered for Cruz at 19m and retired at 39m. Dabove brought in Maciel, who fulfilled the task of helping to keep the three points and climb to the top.

On the next date, the fourth, Platense will visit Unión de Santa Fe (Friday 4 from 7:15 p.m.) and Banfield will receive Defense and Justice at the Florencio Sola (Sunday 6 from 5 p.m.).
