Ajax Amsterdam mourns its young talent Noah Gesser. As the Dutch record champions announced, the 16-year-old died in a serious traffic accident on Friday evening. Gesser’s 18-year-old brother was also killed in the accident.
The brothers were driving on the N210 near IJsselstein when their vehicle collided head-on with a taxi. A rescue helicopter reached the scene of the accident shortly afterwards, but was unable to do anything for the brothers. The taxi driver was taken to a hospital. The police are now investigating the circumstances of the clash.
Noah Gesser has played for Ajax since 2018
Ajax wrote on Twitter: “Ajax is deeply touched by the tragic death of his youth player Noah Gesser. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and relatives.”
Gesser played for Ajax since summer 2018, when he came from the amateur club Alphense Boys. He was considered a great talent, and Ajax’s arch-rival Feyenoord also tried to recruit him at the time.
Gesser was a quick striker. The attacker scored eleven goals in just six league games in Ajax’s U16s last unfinished season. In the next season he should be used in the U17.
