World Cup: luger Langenhan wins in Altenberg

The German lugers took revenge at the World Cup in Altenberg, Saxony, for their defeat at the World Championships in Oberhof. Max Langenhan celebrated his second win of the season.

The German lugers took revenge at the World Cup in Altenberg, Saxony, for their defeat at the World Championships in Oberhof. Max Langenhan celebrated his second win of the season.

Second was the Italian Dominik Fischnaller, who defended his lead in the overall World Cup. Third place went to three-time Olympic champion and sprint world champion Felix Loch. World champion Jonas Müller from Austria disappointed and only finished tenth.

In the relay, Germany had to settle for second place behind Austria with Langenhan, Julia Taubitz and Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken. The podium was completed by the team from Latvia.

The day before, the German luge team was in great shape. As at the World Championships in Oberhof, the women celebrated a triple triumph. Julia Taubitz won ahead of Anna Berreiter and Dajana Eitberger. The world champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken also won the men’s doubles. They left behind the six-time Olympic champions Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt.

In the women’s doubles World Cup, world champions Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal took second place behind Andrea Vötter/Marion Oberhofer from Italy.
