The red-white-red duo only lost in the final on Wednesday in stormy conditions to Nadya Ochner and Aaron March from Italy. Bronze went to Julie Zogg and Dario Caviezel from Switzerland. For the ÖSV it was already the sixth medal at these World Championships.
In the final, Prommegger and Schöffmann were only 29 hundredths of a second away from gold. “It was gone with the wind, I’ve never experienced anything like it. I didn’t even see the goals and I was happy that I made it to the finish line,” Prommegger described his impressions of the medal decision on ORF. For the 42-year-old from Vorarlberg it was his second medal at this World Championships after winning gold in the parallel slalom on Tuesday.
The same applies to Schöffmann, who had won her very first precious metal at the world championships the day before with bronze in the parallel slalom and immediately added it. “We’re happy to take the silver medal,” said the 30-year-old. For the other two ÖSV teams Arvid Auner/Claudia Riegler and Fabian Obmann/Daniela Ulbing was the last stop in the quarter-finals. Obmann and Ulbing had to admit defeat against Ochner/March in the quarter-finals. Auner and Riegler missed out on the semi-finals against the Italians Maurizio Bormolini and Lucia Dalmasso.
