What makes peeing so strong

Nobody celebrates as emotionally as she does: Eva Pinkelnig

The spell is broken, Austria won its first medal at the Nordic World Championships in Planica, it can go on in this key. Eva Pinkelnig can only be congratulated on her silver medal. In a high-class competition, the woman from Vorarlberg kept her nerve and crowned herself as Vice World Champion with a magnificent second jump.

In the outrun, this first women’s competition was highly emotional. The new world champion, Katharina Althaus, fell to her knees and could hardly believe her luck. Tears of joy flowed from her and from Pinkelnig, who didn’t mourn for a second about the narrowly missed victory. That’s what makes Eva Pinkelnig’s strength: she takes things as they come. Doesn’t insist that it has to be gold after her series of victories. Your personal expectations are high, but not dogged and one-dimensional. After everything that the Vorarlberg native has gone through on her way to the top, what comes at this World Cup is an encore and not a purpose in life.

So even a seam that came undone in the test round couldn’t throw Pinkelnig off course. The woman from Vorarlberg was certainly not unaffected by this, and the first competition jump was not entirely successful either. But in the second round, the energy was back from the take-off and the leap into happiness was perfect.

Overall, the level and density of this first women’s competition was extremely high, so Julia Mühlbacher’s eleventh place is absolutely remarkable. As an 18-year-old, who only pushed herself for the World Cup team in Hinzenbach, she is currently number two in the ÖSV camp. Unfortunately, Chiara Kreutzer and Sara Marita Kramer had no reason to celebrate. Like Jaqueline Seifriedsberger, Kreutzer has to improve a lot for today’s team competition. Germany and Norway are strong opponents, our neighbors are certainly inspired by Althaus’ gold medal. Among the Norwegians, top jumper Anna Odine Stroem has to come to terms with the fact that she “only” won bronze as the half-time leader.

When it comes to medals, power is there

It will also be very exciting for the men today. The Slovenians around Anze Lanisek and Timi Zajc have shown on their home hill that they are to be reckoned with. Halvor Egner Granerud is still in top form, only Dawid Kubaki is a question mark. The Pole had to skip the first practice session due to back problems. For the Austrians, only Daniel Tschofenig was initially able to get used to the normal hill in Planica. But it is one of Stefan Kraft’s peculiarities that he needs a few training jumps to acclimate. When it comes to medals, he’s always there.
