Will FC Blau-Weiss Linz continue their run of success in the second division on Saturday (2 p.m., Hofmann Personal Stadium) against Kapfenberg at the bottom? Coach Gerald Scheiblehner’s team got off to an ideal start to the spring with a 4-0 derby win against Vorwarts Steyr – all in all, Linz have won all of the last seven games.

The Stahlstadtklub is still three wins short of stopping the longest winning streak in the second division. The people of Linz of all places currently have to share this with Admira: in 2021, blue and white broke the Lower Austrian record from 2000 with ten wins en suite.

Even if it’s against the bottom of the table today, BW coach Scheiblehner warns of the Styrians: “Since taking over from coach Abdulah Ibrakovic, they have scored ten of their twelve points in his six games. He knows what suits this team and how to play in the relegation battle must occur. We have a difficult task ahead of us.” The free move from striker Fally Mayulu to Bundesliga club Rapid in the summer has already been fixed.
