Defending champion Stefan Kraft had to settle for sixth place on Friday. On the normal hill, the man from Salzburg came in fourth behind Bronze by a hair’s breadth. Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan took silver, well behind Zajc from Slovenia, and Dawid Kubacki from Poland took bronze.
The second best Austrian was Daniel Tschofenig in twelfth place. Jan Hörl (14th) and Michael Hayböck (15th) were even further behind. and Manuel Fettner (20). This is the first time since 2005 that Austria’s men have not won a World Championship medal in the individual competitions on the normal and large hills in Oberstdorf.
As a result, the entire ÖSV team in Slovenia is still waiting for the first gold and sixth medal. There are still two realistic chances of a podium finish on Saturday for the jumpers in the nations competition and the combined athletes in the large hill individual.
