This was announced by the Bundesliga soccer club from Carinthia on Sunday. The WAC gambled away the chance of winning the championship group with a 2-1 defeat at TSV Hartberg on Saturday. In a subsequent conversation with President Dietmar Riegler, the German was informed of the decision.
Dutt took over the team in the summer of 2021. The German led the WAC into the cup semi-finals in the first season and fourth in the championship and thus a place in the European Cup. The entry into the Conference League did not succeed. In the current season, however, the WAC fell short of expectations and for the first time missed out on the championship group of the top six teams. After four defeats in the five competitive games of the new year so far, the WAC has now pulled the ripcord and ended the cooperation with the 58-year-old.
“I would like to thank Robin Dutt for the wonderful and interesting time. I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet such a great personality and I wish Robin the very best for his future,” said WAC President Riegler.
Dutt, who said goodbye to the team on Sunday morning, didn’t say a bad word either. “The WAC has become very dear to me over the past two years. I wish the team all the best, in which I continue to have full confidence,” he said. His assistant coach Oliver Barth also had to go with Dutt.
It was not clear at first who would lead the team in the qualifying group in the fight for staying up and the last chance for a European Cup ticket.
