The World Cup showdown in Planica got off to a promising start for Austria’s ski jumpers. In the qualification for tomorrow’s individual competition in ski flying (3 p.m., ORF 1), four ÖSV “eagles” landed in the top nine: Stefan Kraft (4th / 222.5 m), Jan Hörl (6th / 233 m) , Michael Hayböck (8th/232.5 m) and Daniel Tschofenig (9th/226 m).
The top three positions all went to the Slovenian team around Anze Lanisek (1st/239 m), Timi Zajc (2nd), who achieved the longest distance with 241.5 meters, and Domen Prevc (3rd/230 m ). Clemens Aigner and Clemens Leitner fell by the wayside in the elimination.
“We feel ready for a great competition, the boys will get the most out of themselves again,” said ÖSV head coach Andreas Widholzl.
