Bundesliga: “Best performance”: Glasner remains positive despite the draw

Disappointing result, strong performance: Oliver Glasner draws confidence from the 1-1 draw against Bochum. Seven competitive games without a win don’t bother the Eintracht coach.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s head coach Oliver Glasner sees significant progress at his club despite the current earnings crisis.

“I see a lot of things that are going in the right direction again. That makes me confident,” said the 48-year-old football teacher late on Friday evening after the 1-1 (1-1) draw against VfL Bochum. “Today was probably our best football performance in 2023. That’s why I’m looking forward to Tuesday night in the cup.”

It was the seventh winless competitive game in a row for the Hessian Europa League winner. The goal of the premier class is getting further and further away. And on Tuesday (6 p.m. / ZDF and Sky) the Frankfurt team will receive league rival Union Berlin in the DFB Cup.

Glasner’s praise: “Strong as a bear”

“We’re disappointed with the result, but I’m very, very happy with our footballing performance. I’m very happy with how the team combined,” Glasner said of the draw against the relegation contenders. The current currency of unity is not points, but compliments.

This was also given by Bochum’s head coach Thomas Letsch. “We played against a very strong Eintracht, who put a lot of pressure on us from the first minute. They gave us problems that we couldn’t solve,” said Letsch. Glasner took up the praise directly and said: “Strong as an ox, that’s good for us in this phase.”

The dependence on striker Randal Kolo Muani, who is currently involved in almost all offensive actions at Eintracht, is striking. In the absence of the injured Jesper Lindstrom, there is often a lack of pace and moments of surprise. Daichi Kamada and ex-world champion Mario Götze are no longer playing at the same level as last autumn.
