The Argentine tennis player Thiago Tirante advanced to the final of the Challenger of Mexico, which is played on a clay surface and will distribute prizes of $160,000, after winning this morning over the British Jan Choinski 7-6 (7-5), 4 -6 and 6-4.

Tirant, born in La Plata and ranked 234 in the ATP world ranking, used three and a quarter hours of play to defeat Choinski (220) in the semifinals and will go in search of the title against the German Dominik Koepfer (262), who beat the Austrian Maximilian Neuchrist (248) 6-2 and 6-4.

The 21-year-old from La Plata has an unfavorable record with Koepfer, since he lost in the initial round of the 2021 edition of the Argentina Open 2-6, 6-3 and 6-4.

Tirante will go in search of the second Challenger title in his career, in a final that will be played at 6:00 p.m. (Argentina time) after the one he won in Ambato, Ecuador, in 2021, after winning the final over the Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas by 7-5 and 7-5.

Tirante starred in a great week in Mexico and settled in the definition after having basted four wins against Australian Bernard Tomic (284), Renzo Olivo from Rosario (196), Colombian Nicolás Mejía (243) and the aforementioned Choinski (220). .

Argentine tennis players have won four Challenger category tournaments this year, which is next in importance to the ATP tournaments.
