The waves are currently rising at the German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt. At the weekend, coach Oliver Glasner’s angry speech after the 3-1 defeat against Hoffenheim triggered a great deal of media coverage, now a tweet from athletics coach Martin Spohrer, which has since been deleted, is making the headlines.

The 45-year-old apologized for a verbal blunder on Twitter against Hoffenheim’s professional Christoph Baumgartner. “I would like to expressly apologize for my tweet after the penalty situation in yesterday’s game in Hoffenheim! Something like this shouldn’t happen to me under any circumstances and was unprofessional!” Spohrer wrote on Twitter late Sunday evening.

After Austria’s national player Baumgartner won a penalty in TSG’s 3-1 win over Frankfurt, Spohrer insulted the professional on Saturday via Twitter by calling him “HRNSHN”. He later deleted the tweet. “It happened in the excitement of a penalty that I thought was provoked, but this does not justify the tweet or the choice of words, for which I once again very clearly apologize, especially to Christoph Baumgartner!” Spohrer wrote. Whether the club sanctioned the athletic trainer , was initially open.

Rumors about Glasner’s successor

Eintracht Frankfurt has been waiting for a win in the league since February 18. Coach Glasner is considered counted. His contract expires in the summer of 2024, and the Innviertler had rejected an early extension to 2026. A separation after the DFB Cup final on June 3 in Berlin against Leipzig seems possible. Dino Toppmöller, son of Eintracht’s ex-coach Klaus Toppmöller and most recently assistant coach to Julian Nagelsmann at FC Bayern Munich, is already being positioned as a successor candidate by some media in Germany.
