The 21-year-old defeated number three seeded Argentinian Facundo Bagnis 3:6,6:4,6:1 and will now face his closer compatriot Sebastian Ofner or Frenchman Hugo Gaston on Saturday.
Dominic Thiem and Dennis Novak also still have the semi-final chance. Fifth-ranked Misolic fell behind 4-1 at the start, making up for the break against himself but ultimately losing the set.
“I had difficulties with his tactics at the beginning, he always played my backhand,” explained the local hero in an ORF interview. Misolic then changed tactics and, after a lightning start in the second set, overcame short-term problems. “I played aggressively in the third set, maybe he fell mentally.”
After Ofner’s game (6), top seeded Dominic Thiem comes into action against 17-year-old Croatian Dino Prizmic. On the side court, Novak has to deal with the Serb Hamad Medjedovic.
