The 35-year-old from Lower Austria celebrated his World Cup debut in 2010 at the slalom in Levi and since then has competed in a total of 94 World Cup races. The slalom specialist placed in the top 10 six times and celebrated three victories in the European Cup. In addition, Digruber secured two national championship titles in 2019 (slalom) and 2011 (super combination).

“I realized for myself that the time had come to draw a line. I have devoted my whole life to skiing and I am very happy that I was able to realize my childhood dream. As a personal highlight, I would name the top 10 placings in the World Cup, especially those in Val d’Isere and Japan. The home races in Schladming, where I finished in the top ten twice, were also indescribable moments. I am now looking forward to spending time with my family and will switch to the police service in Scheibbs from September. In addition, I can well imagine passing on my experience as a trainer to young athletes,” says Dirgruber.

Marko Pfeifer, racing director of the alpine ski men, wishes the long-time athlete all the best for the future: “Marc was always an exemplary athlete who put everything under the sport. His career hasn’t always been easy for him and injuries have often set him back. Nevertheless, he always fought back and was very valuable for our team. I wish him only the very best for his future.”
