Dawid Kubacki dropped out of the fight for the big crystal ball prematurely last ski jumping season. The reason was anything but beautiful.

As the Pole explained on Instagram at the time, he wanted to help his wife, who had to be hospitalized with cardiological problems: “She is in bad shape and the doctors are fighting for her life. She is in good hands, a strong woman and I know she will fight.”

His wife survived the anxious weeks. Now Kubacki spoke publicly about the difficult time for the first time. You can’t prepare for something like that, he told the portal “skijumping.pl”. “I know that you cannot help in the hospital. But in a situation like that, you just want to be with your loved ones and take care of your kids.”

The couple has two daughters, the younger of whom was born in January. The uncertainty weighed heavily on him and also made him despair. “Especially at the beginning I had to make a lot of effort. I often cried.” Kubacki received a lot of support from his family.

His wife’s fight for survival lasted about a month. Relief came after implantation of a pacemaker. “The doctors did a great job,” said the two-time world champion. “It was bad, but then her heart values ​​started to return to normal. It was a miracle.”

While his wife is still recovering from the difficult period, Kubacki was able to resume training. He depends on her state of health how his career will continue.
