The leader of the Formula 1 World Cup, the Dutchman Max Verstappen, set the pace today in the tests carried out with a view to the Monaco Grand Prix, the seventh date of the season that will be held this Sunday.

After finishing sixth in the first session of the day, the Red Bull driver recovered his performance in the RB19 car (1:12.462) and was ahead of the Ferraris of Monegasque Charles Leclerc (1:12.527) and the Spanish Carlos Sainz (1:12.527). :12.569).

From fourth to tenth place were the Spanish Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), the British Lando Norris (McLaren) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), the Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez (Red Bull), the Finnish Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo) and Frenchmen Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, both from Alpine.

Verstappen, two-time champion of the premier class, is at the top of the 2023 general classification with 119 points, followed by “Checo” Pérez (105) and Alonso (75).

The Red Bulls shared the tests that have been held this year, since the Emilia-Romagna GP, in Italy, was suspended last weekend due to flooding in the place.

Also the Dutchman, in 2021, and the Mexican, in 2022, were the last two winners in the Montecarlo street.
