Rep. of Korea prevailed against Ecuador and qualifies for the Quarterfinals

The match for the round of 16 8 of the FIFA – Sub 20 World Cup – Argentina 2023 tournament, played this Thursday between Ecuador and R. of Korea, ended with a victory in favor of the visiting team (3-2). The goals of the match for the locals were scored by Justin Cuero (35′ 1T, penalty) and Sebastían González (38′ 2T). While away goals were made by Youngjun Lee (11′ 1T), Junho Bae (19′ 1T) and Seokhyeon Choi (2′ 2T).

Despite the fact that the Republic of Korea won the duel, Ecuador was superior taking 21 shots but it was not enough to convert them into scores. According to the statistics, 12 reached the goal and 7 ended up outside.

Youngjun Lee had a great performance. The Korea Republic attacker shone by scoring 1 goal and kicking 4 times.

Junho Bae also performed well. The Korea Republic midfielder scored 1 goal.

Many fouls during the game have forced the game to be cut constantly. There was only one card, in the 76th minute of the second half Kendry Páez received a yellow card.

For their part, Eunjoong Kim’s team came out with a 4-4-2 tactical arrangement with Kim Joonhong under the three sticks; Changwoo Park, Seokhyeon Choi, Jisoo Kim, and Yehun Choi in defense; Kim Yonghak, Junho Bae, Seungwon Lee and Hyeonbin Park in midfield; and Sangyoon Kang and Youngjun Lee up front.

Oshane Nation was the chosen referee for the match at the Only Mother of Cities Stadium.
