The decision has been made – after the association passed on to the SPG Wallern/St. Marienkirchen approached, the Trattnachtalers are now exercising their right of promotion and daring to step into the regional league middle.

“Due to the waiver of ASKÖ Oedt, the association approached us. We brought the entire team on board for this decision and together we decided to accept the challenge. We see the regional league as an attractive league that will become even more interesting in the coming season with games against Upper Austrian clubs such as SK Vorwarts Steyr, WSC Hertha, UVB Vöcklamarkt or Union Gurten. We have a good team that we want to compete with in the regional league. It is also an excellent platform for our young players,” says SVW sports director Thomas Weissenböck.

President Manfred Zauner on the promotion decision: “Due to infrastructural measures (including renovation of the clubhouse), ASKÖ Oedt decided against promotion to the regional league. We as SV Zaunergroup Wallern were not able to defeat the overpowering opponent Oedt, but we were still nine points clear of the third-placed team. In my opinion, our team deserves promotion and I’m looking forward to the sporting challenge.”

The Upper Austrian league is thus spared an increase to 17 clubs and will probably be played quite normally with 16 clubs in the coming season. This probably also includes Askö Oedt: According to the association, the Trauner should have risen as champions, but Franz Grad’s club would almost certainly have legally challenged this. It can be assumed that the OÖFV will forego an aftermath on the green table due to Wallern’s rise in order to maintain the league strength of 16 clubs and to have no question marks before the relegation games in the coming week.
