LASK has a defense giant in its sights

LASK begins preparation for spring on Thursday with performance tests. Sports director Radovan Vujanovic unexpectedly received a cash injection for the search for reinforcements: Osijek prematurely withdrew the option to buy loan player Yevgen Cheberko.

In the summer of 2020, the athletes had signed the then Ukrainian U21 team captain from Luhansk. After seven appearances and his debut in the senior team, the defender was loaned to the Croatian first division club a year ago. Although he is by no means a regular player at the club of ex-Austria coach Nenad Bjelica, the current runner-up fixed the change. It should be good business for LASK, which already has a successor in its sights: Oumar Sako from the Bulgarian first division club Beroe Stara Zagora.

The 25-year-old from Ivory Coast is a late-calling: he only moved from his home to Al-Kharitiyath in Qatar a year and a half ago. Since joining Zagora, he has been a regular in the eighth division of the Bulgarian league. At 1.91 meters, he could bring the force into play that LASK lacked in autumn. Sako would not remain the only access: The athletes are still looking for an experienced head of defense – and a goalscorer. (like)
