Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek dominates on clay. But she is eliminated early again at Wimbledon.

World number one Iga Swiatek was surprisingly eliminated in the third round of Wimbledon. The five-time Grand Slam tournament winner unexpectedly lost to Kazakhstani Yulia Putintseva 6:3, 1:6, 2:6 at the world’s most important grass tennis tournament in London.

Putintseva is now surprisingly in the round of 16 of the third Grand Slam tournament of the season. In the first round, she spoiled Angelique Kerber’s first return to Wimbledon as a mother.

Wimbledon: Some top players out

With the elimination of French Open winner Swiatek, who has never made it past the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, the women’s tournament is over for the next top player. Belarusian Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka had to withdraw from the tournament at short notice due to injury. Czech defending champion Marketa Vondrousova has also already been eliminated.

Wimbledon also ended for two-time finalist Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian lost to Ukrainian Jelina Switolina 1:6, 6:7 (4:7). Switolina reached the semifinals last year.
