Summer Olympics: Track cycling: Hinze in the Keirin final – Friedrich out

Emma Hinze can dream of a medal in the Keirin. But reaching the final is a close call.

Former world champion Emma Hinze is in the keirin final at the Olympic track cycling competitions. The 26-year-old just managed to take third place in her semi-final run in the photo finish at the Velodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Two-time world champion Lea Sophie Friedrich, on the other hand, was eliminated in her race. The final of the best six riders in the combat sprint will take place from 7.11 p.m.

Hinze raced to gold in the Keirin at the 2020 World Championships in Berlin. With Friedrich and Pauline Grabosch, Hinze won bronze in the team sprint at the start of the Paris Games.

Meanwhile, in the men’s omnium, Tim Torn Teutenberg has improved to fifth place after a good performance in the speed race. The four-event competition now includes the elimination race and the final points race.
