Sports shooter Natascha Hiltrop is once again unstoppable at the Paralympics. She wins a medal in the long jump with her last jump.
Sports shooter Natscha Hiltrop has won her second gold at the Paralympics in Paris with the small-bore rifle. After her success in the three-position shooting, the 32-year-old from Bonn was also unbeatable in the prone/stand position. With 250.2 rings, she also set a Paralympics record at the shooting range in Chateauroux.
For Hiltrop, it was her third Paralympic gold medal in addition to her two successes in the French capital. Before that, she won in Tokyo in 2021, albeit with the air rifle. For the German team, it is the seventh gold in Paris.
Long jumper Nele Moos surprisingly jumped to silver. The 22-year-old from Duisburg, who is paralyzed on the right side of her body, not only achieved a personal best with her last attempt at the Stade de France of 5.13 meters, but also won a medal.
Zeyen-Giles with second bronze
Cyclist Annika Zeyen-Giles has once again secured bronze on the handbike. In the road race, the paraplegic finished just behind second-placed Dutchwoman Jennette Jansen. In Clichy-sous-Bois, a Paris suburb, the 39-year-old needed 56:16.00 minutes for the 28.3-kilometer course. One day earlier, Zeyen-Giles had already won bronze in the individual time trial.
Records in the preliminary round for German swimming stars
Swimming stars Elena Semechin and Taliso Engel are on course for gold after two impressive heats. Semechin swam the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:13.19 minutes, a Paralympic record, and beat the second-fastest competitor by 6.3 seconds. Their final will take place at 7:26 p.m. Engel set a world record over the same distance in 1:01.84 minutes and will start the race at 7:03 p.m. as the top favorite.
Table tennis player Thomas Schmidberger can also hope for gold this evening (6 p.m.). The paraplegic from Düsseldorf defeated the Thai Yuttajak Glinbancheun 3-0. In the final, the 32-year-old will face the Chinese Feng Panfeng.
