It is possible to change the head coach of the Russian futsal team after the defeat in the final of the European Championship from the Portuguese team. This was announced on February 6 by the President of the Russian Futsal Association (AMFR) Emil Aliyev.
“In hot pursuit, such decisions are not made,” TASS quoted him as saying.
As he recalled, Sergei Skorovich’s contract is valid until April 1.
“We will discuss, changes are possible,” Aliyev added.
Earlier on Sunday, in the final of the European Futsal Championship, the Russian men’s team lost to the Portuguese team (2:4).
On February 1, the Russian futsal team defeated the Georgian team in the quarterfinals of the European Championship.
In the semifinals, the Russian team beat the Ukrainian team (3:2). Ex-midfielder of the Russian national team, champion of the RPL-2016/17 in the Moscow Spartak Alexander Samedov congratulated the team on reaching the final.
Sergey Skorovich has been the head coach of the Russian national team since 2009. Under his leadership, the Russian team became the silver medalist of the European Championship four times (2012, 2014, 2016, 2022), in 2018 it took third place.
At the World Championships in 2016, the Russians took second place, losing in the final to the Argentines.
The next European Championship will be held in 2026, the venue of the tournament will be determined later.
