Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to study the issue of holding the Decade of Science and Technology in the country. This is stated in the list of instructions of the head of state, given as a result of the joint meeting of the State Council and the Council for Science and Education.
“The Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, taking into account the results achieved as a result of the activities implemented as part of the Year of Science and Technology, to consider declaring the Decade of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation,” the February 10 document says.
The corresponding report must be submitted by March 31, the person in charge is the head of the presidential administration, Anton Vaino.
On December 24, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko announced that in the Russian Federation in 2022 they would create a single digital service containing information both about individual Russian scientists and research teams, and about the technologies available in Russia.
He noted that now in the country such data “are in disparate services and information systems.” According to Chernyshenko, this prevents business and development institutions from understanding what promising technologies and developments are in Russia.
On the same day, Putin called for the Year of Science to continue into a decade of science. According to the head of state, the main result of the Year of Science and Technology is a qualitatively new level of scientific education. The President stressed that the interest of society in science “without exaggeration is huge, colossal.”
