“The data of the report corresponding to the first semester show a positive interannual evolution in the three main variables of the sector: production, exports and sales”, pointed out Martín Zuppi, president of Adefa. When referring to production, he explained that “The monthly results reflect a process of adaptation of structures to the new productive conditions, in a context marked by new investments, renewal of the offer and the closure of some industrial cycle of some models.”
In relation to export performance, ZUPPI acknowledged that “There is a limited interannual improvement”. While the growth of 9% registered in June compared to the same month of 2024 is encouraging, he warned that “The accumulated increase in the semester is milder (+2.2 %), as a result of greater competition in destination markets, along with persistent challenges in terms of competitiveness and access to new markets.”
Regarding wholesale sales, he stressed that “The dynamism of the domestic market responded, to a large extent, to the elimination and reduction of the different sections of the internal tax, the elimination of the country tax and of the import restrictions, which allowed to expand the available supply and accompanied an improvement in the demand, also driven by access to credit.”
In this context, Zuppi stressed the importance of joint work between the government and the value chain, as well as to continue deepening an agenda of continuous improvement in terms of productive and export competitiveness, in line with the strategic profile of the automotive sector within the industrial framework and Argentine exporter.
Finally, in wholesale sales, the report indicated that the sector marketed 59,807 units in June, 1.5 % more if measured with May deliveries and exceeded 85.0 % the volume of the same month last year.
In the first semester a total of 299,001 units were delivered to commercial networks, 84.6 % over 161,986 units of the first six months of 2024.
