Tesla has thrown two models from the configurator. Both the Model S and the Model X are no longer configurable. There are good reasons for that.
Is it the beginning of the end for the two Tesla models S and X? On the manufacturer’s homepage, the two vehicles can no longer be configured as new cars. If you are interested in the acquisition, you will be referred to an inventory sale. He speculates that the company “seems to be realigning” on the European market. Tesla has not yet given an explanation to change the offer, but it is obvious what should have led to the decision.
The S and X models have recently sold underground. The effort to drive off cars was probably no longer in an economic relationship with the yield. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, only 58 new Model S and 59 new Model X were approved in the first half of 2025. That could have several reasons.
Tesla Model S and X hardly sell anymore
Since the election campaign for Donald Trump and the interference in politics, including all the scandals associated with it, the reputation of Elon Musk has changed in many countries. Driving a new Tesla is now a kind of political statement that many do not want to hand over.
In addition, there are the high prices of the vehicles. Model X is currently not available below 114,000 euros, the Model S is currently no longer available as a new existing vehicle, and the last time Tesla demanded at least 109,990 euros. In combination with the fact that both cars are getting on in years and can only keep up with cutting-edge upper class models, both models are hardly an attractive offer.
Germany is not the only market where Tesla puts the offer: X and S are no longer available in the configurator in Norway, Great Britain, France and the Netherlands.
New model in the USA
This is not yet a complete end of the models: Tesla continues in the USA, the Tesla Model X is the equivalent of 79,000 euros, the S costs at least 75,000 euros. There, both vehicles only received a facelift a few weeks ago and were at least updated with reserved. However, the revised cars no longer seem to find their way to Europe.
