Named the leading regions in the number of fatal accidents with urban transport

AlfaStrakhovanie experts analyzed the structure of insurance payments under compulsory civil liability insurance policies of the carrier (OSGOP) for 2019–2021 and found out in which Russian regions fatal accidents with passenger transport most often occur.

As stated in a press release received by the editors of Izvestia on February 21, most often major accidents involving public transport and commercial carriers that claimed the lives of people occurred in the Stavropol Territory, Smolensk and Chelyabinsk regions.

Thus, the share of Stavropol for the specified period accounts for 36.4% of the total number of fatal accidents in Russia. The second place is occupied by the Smolensk region – 27.3% of such accidents occurred there from 2019 to 2021. The third place is occupied by two regions at once – the Chelyabinsk region and St. Petersburg with an indicator of 18.2% each.

On February 8, it was reported that in Moscow, following the results of 2021, the main type of accident was a collision with a pedestrian — almost 3,000 accidents in which 166 people died and 2,801 were injured.
