The new Lada Vesta with the NG (New Generation) index will have a wide selection of gearboxes. This was reported to an Izvestia correspondent by a source at AvtoVAZ, answering the question of whether they would offer a 1.8 engine paired only with a manual transmission.
In 2019, it became known that AvtoVAZ was going to stop producing the Lada Vesta model with AMT (automated transmission, or “robot”). However, AvtoVAZ is not going to completely abandon the “robot”. The automated transmission will remain on cars of the Lada Granta family.
The production of the serial Lada Vesta with the NG (New Generation) index started at the Lada-Izhevsk enterprise on February 22. As the Izvestia correspondent notes, although the manufacturer calls the new product the next generation, in fact, this is an upgraded version.
The model received an updated appearance, a new dashboard, a redesigned grille and bumpers, fully diode optics, as well as previously unavailable options and equipment. At the same time, the body, chassis and line of power units remained the same.
The price and equipment of the Lada Vesta NG will be announced closer to the start of sales, which is scheduled for the first half of 2022. The base cost of the model will not exceed 1 million rubles.
On February 11, AvtoVAZ announced that it does not plan to produce a new generation of the Lada Granta, and that it will be replaced by a completely new family of B-class cars with its own name.
