Wartburg and Trabi are very popular as a classic car. Their value has more than doubled in recent years. The “Ferrari of the East” costs the most.
GDR classic cars are very popular. Collectors and enthusiasts pay for trabis up to 7000 euros, for a Melkus RS 1000, well over 100,000 euros are also left. There are hardly any old cars that would have gained in value as well as the GDR vehicles, says the Thuringian classic car specialist Veit Kohl. Most GDR classic cars are also traded in East Germany. For many collectors, they have now achieved cult status.
Appropriately, there are several classic car meetings that specialize in the East cars-including the Zwickau Trabant and Eastern Vehicle Meeting, the International Eastern Bloc Motor Association in Pütnitz on the Baltic Sea, the Trabant meeting in Anklam and the Eastern Mobile meeting in Thale in Harz.
We show you how much is paid for Trabi and Co. today.
