The regulations recognize homologations based on international standards and certificates issued by local laboratories that have already been approved for certain models. The objective is clear: reduce redundant procedures and promote greater competition in the automotive market.

Cars import: the government simplified another procedure that speeds up the arrival of vehicles to the country
Resolution 546/2025, issued by the Ministry of Tourism, It allows importers to use an environmentally authorized environmental configuration license (LCA) at the time of entering a new vehicle. This document proves that the unit meets the necessary environmental requirements to circulate in Argentina.
Until now, each importer had to process an LCA for each vehicle admitted, even if it was a model already approved in the country or in markets with stricter standards. “It didn’t make sense that an importer, bringing the same car model that another had already approved, had to rebuild the entire process from scratch”explained the Minister of Deregulation and Transformation of the State, Federico Sturzenegger.
The official added that the previous system was designed to stop importation, limit competition and sustain bureaucracy, while the new regulations set a paradigm shift: of “Stock until you understand” to “enable and trust.”

Until now, each importer had to process an LCA for each vehicle admitted, even if it was a model already approved in the country or in markets with stricter standards.
This advance is complemented by resolution 271/2025 of the Secretariat of Industry and Commercewhich had already simplified obtaining the model configuration license (LCM), a document that certifies the safety of vehicles. The regulations allow to recognize security certifications issued by international organizations such as UN, the European Union, the United States and Brazil.
In practice, importers can now take advantage of both a LCM and an existing LCA for a specific model. “An approved model is worth all: no more importer or unit trials,” Sturzenegger concluded, highlighting the simplification of the system and the impulse to competition in the Argentine automotive market.
